What is GuessWhiz?

GuessWhiz is a small collection of free daily guessing games. Every game hides one answer, gives you a few clues and six tries to work out what it is — a new puzzle appears once a day, the same for everyone, with no sign-up and nothing to download.

The collection starts with Guess the Footballer, a daily football player guessing game. Pick a player, compare the clues, narrow the field — and come back tomorrow for a fresh puzzle. Everything runs in your browser, on phone or desktop, and your streak is remembered on your own device.

How the daily games work

Every game on GuessWhiz follows the same simple loop:

  • One puzzle a day. A new mystery is picked for everyone at midnight UTC — the evening in the Americas, the morning in Asia and Oceania.
  • Guess and compare. Each guess is scored against the hidden answer, with green for an exact match and yellow for close, so every try tells you something.
  • Six tries, one hint. You have six attempts per puzzle, and a hint is there if you are stuck — but it costs one of them.
  • No account, no download. Streaks are stored in your browser, and you can share your result as a spoiler-free card.

Because the puzzle is the same for everyone, it is easy to compare results with friends at the end of the day — and impossible to fall behind, since nothing is missable.

Games in the collection

Guess the Footballer is live now: six guesses to name the footballer of the day from clues on nation, position, birth year and clubs. It is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

More daily guessing games are on the way — same format, different topics. Each new game is added to this page the day it launches, so this is the place to check.

Tips for your first game

  • Start with a famous name. A well-known answer gives the clue system more to work with.
  • Use every clue, every guess. A wrong guess is still information — check what turned green and what stayed gray.
  • Read the close calls. Yellow means "close, not exact", and it is often the fastest way in.
  • Save your hint. Since it costs a try, spend it only when one clue is still blocking you.
